Damaged penile nerves are a major cause of sexual problems in men around the world. Nerves send messages of touch, heat, pain and pleasure to the brain so when the nerves in the penis become damaged, a condition called neuropathy, sensitivity may be lost and sexual function and satisfaction seriously reduced. Poor nutrition, chronic disease and infections can all cause serious nerve problems in the penis. Typically, there are 5 symptoms which are linked to penis nerve issues and any one of them can possibly mean nerve damage. Always consult a healthcare practitioner if you think you may have penile nerve dysfunction.

Typically, there are 5 symptoms which can appear and one of which can possibly mean nerve damage. If in doubt always consult a medical practitioner without delay.

Symptoms

Although the symptoms of penis nerve damage and neuropathy may differ from man to man, some symptoms are typical, and appear most often where peripheral nerves have been damaged. The 5 most common symptoms experienced by men include:

  • Pain
  • Burning
  • Tingling
  • Numbness
  • Loss of sensitivity

When the penis becomes affected by symptoms of tingling, numbness, pain, burning or loss of sensitivity, men should seek out medical attention at once. While in some cases these symptoms may be caused by physical damage to the penis, more often there is something else going on. In certain cases neuropathy is the first sign of a chronic health condition.

According to a study funded by the University of Ferrara, Italy nerve damage can become resolved without treatment in 10% of cases. However, it was also discovered that without treatment the condition worsened significantly in 30% of cases.

Should symptoms persist, speak to your doctor immediately.

Causes

Nerve fibers in any part of the body can become damaged in various ways. Poor circulation, resulting in loss of oxygen to the nerve fibers, is the primary cause of nerve damage in men. Diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity can also lead to insufficient peripheral circulation for nerve health. Physical damage or trauma to the nerves is the next most common cause. Accidents, injury and infection may also cause significant damage to the nerves, as can surgery.

Surgical procedures for prostate cancer in particular can cause damage to the penile nerves, resulting in male dysfunction and impotence. According to a study by Hungarian researchers, male dysfunction is the most common side effect of prostate surgery, with 59% of men able to have arousal spontaneously following the procedure

Treatment

The treatment to repair damaged penis nerves depends largely on the cause of damage. When obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes are under control, peripheral nerve damage should improve significantly. For more severe cases, improving circulation, antioxidant protection and nutrition of nerves is important.

Omega-3 and 6 are required for healthy nerve function. Omega-3 oils concentrate in the brain, in the form of DHA, while omega-6 is required to form the myelin sheath that protects nerve fibers in the peripheries of the body. These essential fatty acids are also capable of thinning the blood, enhancing the easy flow of blood and oxygen to the nerves throughout the system, and reducing cholesterol. Bilberry, ginkgo and garlic may also support blood flow to the male organ nerves. Alpha lipoic acid, a vitamin-like antioxidant, has shown in studies to reduce the damage to nerves caused by prostate surgery, effectively treat symptoms of damaged penile nerves, and enhance the regeneration of nerve fibers.

Penis Health Crèmes

Penis health crèmes deliver nutrients and oils directly to the penile nerves, supporting the healing process of neuropathy with male organ-specific nutrition, as well as bioactive compounds to treat the symptoms of neuropathy. Specialist formulas (most professionals recommend Man1Man Oil) contains alpha lipoic acid for healing damaged nerves and the soothing of numbness, tingling and burning which often accompanies this condition. Other ingredients, such as vitamin C, E, D, A and L-arginine support healthy circulation to the tissues of the penis and protect nerves from free radical damage.

The aim of this article is to hi light to the sailing fraternity ways to reduce the amount of money they spend on sailboat maintenance. It does involve rolling your sleeves up, but there are many benefits to have had from a little elbow grease. Mostly the pointers are aimed at a sailors organization. The article is not meant to cause offense, indeed I will try to inject a little humor in to it as we go along! It's a British sense of humor and any feedback is welcome!

In order to stay in front of the sailboat maintenance game you need to be proactive. By waiting for stuff to break you are leaving yourself wide open to expense, ruined holiday plans and foul tempers! Let's face it you do not want to stuck on the pontoon during your precious holiday time – do you? So how to be proactive in this field? Happily there are lots of things you can do to make life easier.

Here are a few suggestions. In no particular order: Write down a weekly, monthly and seasonal check list of things to observe on board. Examples weekly – the engine oil, fuel filter and engine cooling unit. Monthly may be the navigation lights. Seasonal would be the condition of the hull. By having a list of things to check on a regular basis, you are covering yourself for any nasty surprises.

Have a reliable set of tools to cover the jobs that need attention. By investing in your tool kit you will have peace of mind that you've got the correct wrench, pliers and hack saw. Buying cheaply is not advisable, materials used are not as strong under pressure or as durable. Why buy two sets of tools over five years rather than one? Another straight forward concept is having a range of spare parts for jobs that need attention frequently. For example – spark plugs, spark socket, shear pins, starter cord, plug leads, filters, sail tape.

Set aside time before a trip to plan your route and plug way points in to your GPS in advance. You could even get an idea of over night coves or fun places to stop at to give your holiday a loose plan. This also helps with refilling the water tank or engine fuel. Before your trip you should check you have the correct safety gear and look over the emergency kit – it should be on your monthly check list!

Keeping your boat ship shape is important! How much time is wasted looking for stuff in lockers? You can even list the contents of each one written on a sticky label on the lid! Get rid of junk! It clutters and makes the boat untidy and heavier! OK not everyone is a racer but it all adds to a simpler life. Cleanliness is next to godliness. If you regularly wash the decks of grim you will enhance the life of your deck and cockpit. Why? This is because you can spot trouble before it gets a hold. If you have a teak deck you can monitor the rate at which the deck dries. The patches that dry more slowly could mean the caulk is broken, so allowing water in. Again with fiberglass decks, you can spot crazed glass or voids when the surface is clean.

Learning is the key to improvement on board. Perhaps your methods have not allowed for improvements in technology. Watching the market and asking questions is a great way to absorb these updates. If your buddy has a new gadget and your curious to know its in and out – ask to borrow it for a weekend. Then your getting a practical trial, before you reach in to your pocket! There maybe a vibrant second hand market, or a unit in your local shop that did a display model – did anyone say discounted?

Not everyone is a whizz at repair though. There maybe jobs you do not want to go near, as you do not understand every aspect. There could be a technical aspect to the repair of your outboard or hull. It's normal to be unsettled by the unknown. However with the right knowledge, tools and materials, it is realistic to gradually incorporated more of your own repair work to your beloved vessel. By becoming more involved with the practical sailboat maintenance aspect of your vessel enhancements the bond. So take your interest further and get more for less from your hobby!

Ultrasonic Liposuction- It uses ultrasonic sound waves to emulsify fat in those body areas where fat deposit is high. The process makes it easier to remove the accumulated fat.

Laser liposuction- Laser light is targeted at fat deposits to loosen fat cells to enable the surgeon to remove the fat easily.

Plan benefits

The most important option to consider when selecting a dental insurance plan is the yearly maximum benefit amount. This benefit ranges from $750 to $2500 per year. Some companies will let you use up your benefit amount as you need it and accept almost all charges due to your dentist but most will follow a payment (up to your yearly maximum). With a payment schedule, you will only have a certain amount to spend per procedure and be responsible for the rest. Note that, in all cases, when procedures are considered major, a waiting period will apply before any benefits are paid. For your yearly maximum, we recommend that you select a minimum of $1,000 to $1,500 in benefits. The price difference is usually small and most people use up their benefit.

Plan deductible

Deductibles can also vary greatly. With some insurance carriers, dental insurance deductibles can be as simple as $100 per year deductible that just needs to be met one time, while other insurance companies will have a more complicated system of deductibles such as a $50 deductible for each procedure other than a basic cleanings. Carefully check the deductible for the plan you select. What may appear as a good buy may end up being very expensive after deductibles are considered. The best option is a onetime $100 yearly deductible even if it also applies to basic benefits. This will keep your plan simpler and likely cheaper to administer.

Procedures and common plan coverage

For basic dental and preventative exams which may include some x-rays there is usually no charge to you from your dentist (except possibly a deductible). That is probably the only procedure that will be covered at 100%. Anything else such as more comprehensive exams, endodontics, periodontics and prosthodontics will have more limited coverage and lower benefits. Choosing features depends on your dental health and history. Look at you family history and your personal eating and mouth health habits. If you are likely to run into major dental health issues we recommend you select a plan that covers those particular major dental issues. As an example, if you take good care of your teeth but you have a family history of periodontal (gum) disease then you may want to make sure that your dental plan covers this condition. Note that, although, mouth shape and teeth positioning are hereditary, cavities are not hereditary – cleaning your teeth is your best insurance!

The rates

Rates will vary greatly by company, where you live and plan benefits and deductibles. Beware of administration membership fees which are not always spelled out until after you have selected the plan you want and are ready to pay. You may get a discount by paying yearly but rarely by paying quarterly or bi-yearly. In most cases, it seems that the monthly auto payment plans are the best as they will tend to cost the same as yearly pay plans and you are not as likely to lapse your dental plan policy for none-payment.

Do you need an agent?

Our experience has shown that most people do not need an agent to find and apply for dental insurance. At best, a quick call to the company offering the plan options is all that should be needed. We have also found that online shopping and applications yield lower and better results. Shopping with two to three web sites that offer dental insurance is recommended.

Dentist network

There is no point in getting a great dental plan if you will need to drive 30 minutes or more to get to your favorite dentist. Unless, of course, he or she is the only one you trust. Most dental plans offer very large dentist networks and it is very likely that you favorite dentist is in the one of the networks. You should be able to easily check online before you even apply for any plan. If a network list is not made available online, you may want to shop from another dental insurance website.

The dental discount plans alternative

If you have looked at standard dental insurance plans and none of them meet your needs or the price is too high, you may want to consider a dental discount plan. Some are great while some are worthless. Discount plans are usually much simpler to administer than a standard dental plan as they do not usually require that claim forms be filled out. Here is what you want to consider when selecting a discount plan:

· Dentist network (check to see if your favorite dentist is in)

· Procedure covered under discounts (covered procedures should be covered and available for discount right away. A list should be offered before you buy)

· Discount amount per procedure (That number can vary greatly)

· Yearly usage limit if any (there should be none)

· Yearly cost (should be much less than a regular dental plan)

· Any deductible or waiting period? (should be none)

· Reputation of company offering discount plans (check at least with the BBB)

Note that a discount plan is cheaper for a reason. The insurance company is not paying the dentist for any dental procedures, cleaning or other dental work and has just negotiated with dentist to offer discounted rates to their members. If you have a good relationship with your dentist, you may be able to get the same or better discounts by just asking your dentist and without buying any dental discount plan.

Should you get any type dental plan?

If you are asking then it is likely that you or someone close to you have never had any major dental health issues. If you are a saver, meaning if you save money on a regular basis for dental care, then you probably do not need a dental plan. If, like most people, you do not have a savings plan for your dental care, then we recommend that you get dental insurance or at least a quality dental discount plan. Although you may have healthy teeth today, tomorrow may be another story and you will be more than happy to have a good dental plan when it’s time to visit your dentist. If anything, people who have dental insurance are much more likely to see their dentist for regular checkups than people who do not. More checkups usually means better mouth health.

We hope this article has given you a better sense of the value of having or not having dental insurance. Please always feel free to ask us questions. Be well!

According to the Council for Affordable Health Insurance, people who are uninsured pay up to four times more for medical services than those who are insured insurance companies and medical care providers negotiate the scenes. The unequal result of this practice is that uninsured people are burdened with the highest hospital bills. Thus, even if you can not afford expensive and comprehensive health insurance plans, it is still important to seek some kind of affordable health plan.

Affordable Health Insurance Option 1 – Medicaid

Medicaid is a state-managed program that is funded by both the states and federal government to provide health insurance for low-income individuals and families that meets the eligibility requirement. Each state has its own set of guidelines regarding eligibility, services, and payments. There are 25 different eligibility categories that can be classified into five broad groups: (1) pregnant women, (2) children and teenager, (3) the elderly, (4) the blind, and (5) the disabled. In general, you should apply for Medicaid if your are considered low-income under the federal income guideline and if you match one of the descriptions of the eligility groups. Your total asset and immigration status are also considered in the overall assessment of the application. Note a child under the age of 18 can qualify for Medicaid if the child is a US citizen or legal resident regardless of their guardians' legal statuses.

Medicaid covers most health care services including hospital and nursing home care, lab tests, medical equipments, prescription drugs, and some dental care. It does not, however, cover podiatrists, chiropractors, naturopaths, psychologists, physical therapists, audiologists, or speech therapists.

Affordable Health Insurance Option 2 – Catastrophic Health Insurance

Catastrophic health insurance, also known as the major medical plan, is available to people who have good general health. Major pre-existing medical conditions such as AIDS, diabetes, emphysema, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, and schizophrenia may bar you from purchasing a catastrophic health plan. Catastrophic health insurance has high deductibles and very low monthly premiums. For instance, a 21-year old female nonsmoker would only need to pay $ 59 per month.

As implicated in its name, catastrophic health insurance only covers major hospital and medical expenses above a certain deductible. Most of the catastrophic health plans cover expenses for hospital stays, surgery, intensive care, diagnostic X-ray, and lab tests. All other expenses must be paid out-of-pocket. While it is possible to vary your level of coverage by selecting different deductible-plans, the deductible under catastrophic health plan is typically $ 2500 or higher. Catastrophic health insurance is a great alternative for those seeking affordable health insurance and who do not qualify for Medicaid.

Most Australians were appalled and shocked by a television exposure of the treatment eliminated out to a few aboriginal children in detention in the Northern Territory. It resembled scenes from Guantanamo Bay when a boy of 16 or so was shown shackled hands, neck and feet in a chair with a hood over his head for some 2 hours. Other boys were locked into small dark cells without water for up to 24 hours or more. They ranged in age from 14 to 17.

One boy managed to escape his cell and was in the fully enclosed but small exercise yard of cement. He begged to be let out and started smashing the barred windows and crashing the door with a large piece of metal. That is when the guards released tear gas into the enclosure which also entered the other cells. The boys were so traumatized they defecated.

At that time, they were dragged out and a garden hose was used to wash them after they were stripped naked. Other atrocities were equally as bad. This simply was unexpected behavior on the part of guards within a system that is charged with the care and care of these children.

If it is occurring in one place then it is happening in others and, likewise, in other countries. The deliberate shooting of black children and adults by police in the United States along with other atrocities come to mind. This is racism within the justice system and governments are to blame. The Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, is setting up a tribunal to examine the events shown.

As I promised in my first part of my original article titled Basic Health Tips for Women in Busy Times. Here is part two on my tips on how to remain healthy using some common sense tips.

6. Avoid stress. Yes, it is difficult to do sometimes. Life just seems to have stress around every corner. But we can take some common sense actions to help reduce our stress. Stay away from “toxic” friends. The kind of friends that just seem to create drama in your life that would never be there if you were not friends in the first place. Their problems become your problems. Try not to become inundated with 24 hour news. Yes, you should be an informed citizen, but you don’t have to watch depressing news over and over again. Get informed and switch the channel. Women especially are prone to too much stress in their lives. Stress has been recognized as source of many sicknesses. Try as much as feasible to take time out to relax. Read a book, visit with friends and stay active. Take time to pamper yourself. And be certain to get sufficient sleep to restore your energy.

7. Beware of the sun! Women especially seem overly concerned with tanning. If you must tan, try one of the spray tanners. They even sell spray tanning cans at the store. I haven’t tried any of them myself. So, I can’t attest to their effectiveness, but you could try one if you just must have that tanned look. If you are going to be out in the sun, use sunscreen and wear a hat. You’ll look younger longer if you try to avoid over exposure to the sun.

8. Smile, you’re on candid camera! A beautiful smile just seems to give a person an added glow. And have you ever noticed how people with beautiful smiles tend to smile a lot? Smiling helps you get into a good mood. Be sure to visit your dentist to maintain that beautiful smile.

9. This is so obvious, but you must visit your Gynecologist. Women, who are over the age of eighteen ought to have their Physical Examination annually especially for the Pap Smear test. Women who are over forty should have their mammograms and the Breast self-exam is encouraged once puberty has been reached and should be a habit as they mature

10. I left this one for tenth, but it is certainly not the least. Remember to practice safe sex.

I hope these simple tips have been a reminder to you. As I stated at the outset I think that many women already are aware of these things. But, I think we all need reminders from time to time of things. I hope you will find these tips useful. Eat right, stay fit and try to live each day to the fullest.

Thanks for reading…

The type of orthodontics braces that is best for someone varies depending on a number of factors. There are three main types available from an orthodontics dentist or orthodontist and each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. The three main types are metal braces, clear ceramic braces and invisible "lingual" braces.

Orthodontics braces are well known for being able to straighten teeth that are either cooked or even crowed. They can even be used to help with a missing tooth. What is not as well known is that all three main types can provide help when a patients' bite or jaw is not aligned properly.

Braces are typically worn for about two years depending on the amount of corrections that need to take place. With all three main types a metal wire or elastic band goes through brackets which are bonded to the teeth. Since the braces are consistently correcting the position of the teeth regularly follow up visits are made to an orthodontics dentist or orthodontist in order for adjustments to be made. This ensures that the teeth are absolutely corrected in the desired fashion so the patient ends up with a straightened smile that lasts a lifetime.

Metal

Metal braces are considered to be the traditional type of braces. Quite simply, a metal wire is run through metal brackets that are attached to the teeth. This type works very well.

The major disadvantage with conventional metal braces that causes many people to decide on another type is the fact that they are the most visible type. Those people who believe they may feel somewhat self conscious while wearing metal braces often seriously consider one of the two other main options.

The major advantage to metal braces is that these are the least expensive type to wear. Those people who want to keep the cost down often seriously consider this type.

Clear Ceramic

Ceramic braces are the second main type. These are made from materials that allow them to be close in color to that of the teeth themselves. This makes the brackets that are attached to the teeth much more difficult to see. For this reason ceramic braces are sometimes called clear braces.

The wire or elastic used with clear ceramic brackets can also be in a less noticeable, tooth colored shade.

Clear ceramic brackets are not especially fragile but because of the materials used they are certainly considered more likely to break than metal braces. This should not be a big concern for many people though. Those people involved in contact sports would be the type of people who would need to use extra caution when wearing this type.

Clear ceramic braces are more expensive than metal braces and this may be a concern for some people.

Invisible Lingual

The third main type of braces is lingual braces. This type is bonded to the inside or back side of the teeth instead of on the front side.

Since lingual braces can not be seen seen by others these are referred to as invisible braces. This is the major advantage with the lingual type.

The down side is that invisible lingual braces cost more than the metal or clear ceramic type.

When deciding on braces from an orthodontic dentist or orthodontist consider how visible they will be as well as the cost since these are the main issues people have.

One of the most common, yet least understood procedures regularly practiced by dentists is the use of Dental X-rays. But what exactly are X-rays, and more importantly, do they present a health risk?

Developed late in the 19th Century by German physicist Wilhelm Röntgen, an X-ray is a type of electromagnetic radiation (visible light) but with the unique ability to penetrate or pass through the human body to produce shadow-like images either on traditional film, or more likely today, in a digital format. An invaluable medical / dental tool, by generating an image of the interior structure of bones and organs an X-ray is a proven diagnostic method for determining the condition of a patient in a non-intrusive way.

When you go to a dentist for the first time it is not uncommon for a set of X-rays to be taken to allow your dentist to detect any signs of damage or oral disease not visible during a regular dental exam. This procedure will allow your dental professional to create a baseline understanding of your personal oral health condition, which in turn allows them to map out a more accurate plan to deal with any ongoing or potential problem areas. The frequency of X-ray usage depends on the patient’s present oral health, their age and if there are any immediate signs and symptoms of oral disease.

Children for example might require the taking of X-rays more frequently than adults as their teeth and jaws are still developing and their teeth are more likely to be affected by tooth decay than those of an adult. Your dentist will review your history (if one is available), examine your mouth and then decide whether or not you need X-rays.

A question frequently asked dentists is: Are Dental X-rays safe? The simple, Cole’s Notes answer of course is: Yes they are! But as with all things in life, and with all people, there are varying degrees of truth to that answer. An X-ray by its very nature involves the use of radiation which is harmful to all living things, including human beings. But, radiation is a universal constant that can be found in a variety of forms, many of them natural, on a daily basis. The sunlight beaming down (or even shining through a cloud cover) is a form of radiation and potentially harmful.

Natural forms of radiation can also come from the earth as many types of minerals and soils release some form of this invisible energy. Cosmic radiation which beams in from Outer Space passes effortlessly through the planet (and each of us) every day without us even being aware that it’s happening.

Researchers have proven time and again that the amount of radiation involved in a typical Dental X-ray is approximately the same as you would encounter by just living and walking around each day. In contrast, if you’re a frequent traveler you would be exposed to much higher levels of radiation than someone having a Dental X-ray as air travel carries humans higher into the stratosphere, and above much of the blanket of air that protects us mere terrestrial mortals from the harmful effects of space-based cosmic radiation.

So while the amount of radiation in a Dental X-ray is relatively low and the procedure is very safe, it’s a worthwhile precaution for pregnant women to avoid having a Dental X-ray if at all possible. That being said, as pregnant women are at increased risk for gum disease, it’s also important not to ignore a potentially serious dental problem due to fears about radiation exposure from X-rays. A pregnant woman requiring a Dental X-ray will always be shielded with a lead apron and a lead thyroid collar to protect her vulnerable areas.

Dental professionals recommend that children and all women of childbearing age should wear protective lead coverings when getting Dental X-rays. But there is considered to be no added risk associated with Dental X-rays for breastfeeding women or women who are trying to become pregnant.

So to summarize: trust the technology. Conventional dental x-ray machines use high-speed film, which reduces your exposure to radiation. Increasingly dentists are using digital x-rays, which use about 80 percent less radiation than conventional ones. In general, dental x-rays emit lower levels of radiation than other medical x-rays. Mammograms, for example, send out five times more radiation than dental x-rays, and no one would suggest avoiding a mammogram out of a fear of radiation exposure.
