If you have some pain in your mouth that you do not think your dentist can fix, you have the option of going to an oral surgeon to get help. This kind of expert can assist with many major problems dealing with the mouth and teeth.

If you need regular dental work, you probably have a primary dentist that you can go to for help. However, even the most experienced dentists can not solve every problem that has to do with your teeth. If you have major damage or a serious condition that needs to be taken care of, you should head to an oral surgeon in your area.

One of the most common reasons to use an oral surgeon is to get wisdom teeth removed. These come in during young adulthood in most cases, and many people have mouths that are too small to comfortably contain the new teeth so they need to get them removed. If you feel pain in your mouth that you think might be related to this issue, you can go to your dentist first to confirm that you need to get them out, and then get a referral to a nearby surgeon.

Some car accidents can cause facial damage that extends to the teeth, causing major issues that become quite painful. If you need some type of reconstructive surgery, head to a quality oral surgeon in your area. Any type of trauma to the jaw or mouth should be looked at by this kind of expert.

If your dentist determinates that you have a cyst in your mouth, you may need an expert to remove it. Some dentists may be able to perform the surgery depending on their experience, but many are very happy to just refer you to someone who has years of training for this kind of problem. This is especially true if you will need anesthesia for the procedure, since most surgeons in this field are well trained to administer this drug.

If you have decided to get dental implants, you will need to visit a practitioner with experience in this field. This kind of expert can give you teeth that look quite real, but they need to be put in and maintained properly in order to look as good as possible. Find a practitioner who has plenty of knowledge in this area if you want the best results.

Most dentists are willing to offer referrals to surgeons that they trust, so head to your dentist first if you do not know where to go for surgery. Whether you have a facial injury or a cyst, you can get fast relief by going to an oral surgeon. Of course, any major pains in your mouth that your dental practitioner can not cure can also be looked at by this kind of professional.

Dental filling, otherwise known as dental or tooth restoration, is the method by which dentists restore missing parts of the tooth structure or even a missing tooth. Dentist do it in such a way that the integrity, function, and morphology of the tooth structure remain intact. This process uses different types of dental restorative materials. A missing tooth structure supported by dental implants can also be restored through this procedure.

The Need for Tooth Restoration

Caries or dental cavities due to decay are one of the main reasons for the structural loss of a tooth. A part of or a whole tooth could be missing due to an external trauma such as an accident or fracture of the tooth. A previously placed restoration would have deteriorated creating the need for re-restoring it. Intentional loss of structure of the tooth may occur when dentists prepare the tooth for aesthetic improvements.

Restoring a Tooth Directly or Indirectly

The technique of direct restoration involves keeping a prepared soft filling into the tooth. The filling sets and becomes hard while in contact with the tooth. This procedure does not damage the tooth because it passes very limited energy on to the tooth during the setting process. Experts advise this method for restoration in areas that are unlikely to undergo heavy pressure during chewing. A single visit to the dentist would suffice for this procedure. On the contrary, indirect dental restorations involve the technique of using dental impressions of the prepared tooth to fabricate tooth restoration externally. Crowns, bridges, inlays, and onlays are the common indirect restorations. This is then fixed permanently with dental cement. This process requires a minimum of two visits to the dentist.

Different Tooth Restoration Types

There are many ways for teeth restoration and the most common type is the filling restoration, done with materials such as tooth-colored plastic, silver amalgam, gold, or glass materials. Crowns gets capped to a tooth so that its shape, size, appearance, and strength remain intact. Crowns cover a dental implant or hold a dental bridge in place. When one or more missing teeth creates a gap, false teeth known as bridges helps in filling up the space. When the tooth roots needs replacement, dentists go for implants treatment. This is a small metallic post placed into the bone socket of the missing teeth and then crowned. Dentures, made of acrylic resin, replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. These are removable and have metal attachments. While complete dentures treatment is advised when all the teeth are missing, partial dentures are done when there are some natural teeth remaining. Metal clasps fix these to the natural teeth.

In the past, a lot of attention has been focused on space exploration. However, the earth itself has not yet been thoroughly studied, especially when it comes to our saltwater and freshwater environments. Although one does not have to travel a great distance to reach any of these areas, it is still difficult for all but a few to interact closely with these environments. This is now changing, thanks to the aquariums that are being built in many areas around the world. Unlike the early efforts to recreate a part of the ocean in small fish tanks, today's aquariums are actually pieces of the ocean transported to an area where everyone can enjoy its beauty. Entire ecosystems have been created, allowing visitors to see in front of them what they often had to create in their imaginations. Due to the increased interest in the inhabitants of the oceans and other water environments, many large aquariums have now been constructed. This has made it possible, for all those who are interested, to view ocean life without having to step foot in the water.

There are several outstanding aquariums throughout the world. The following sites are just a few that come highly recommended by visitors as well as those who study these habitats.

The Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, Georgia

This aquarium, which opened in 2005, is the largest in the world. The exhibits consist of saltwater as well as freshwater ecosystems. There are examples of well-known animals as well as those that are quite rare. Certain exhibits allow certified scuba divers to swim with a whale shark as well as with rays and tarpon. With five main galleries, the Georgia Aquarium holds 8.1 million gallons of water between the freshwater and saltwater exhibits, and is home to approximately 100,000 animals.

The five galleries include The Georgia Explorer, a touch tank; The Tropical Diver, which includes seahorses and eels; The Cold Water Quest, housing animals such as the beluga whale; The River Scout, which includes examples of freshwater environments found within Georgia; and The Ocean Voyager, which houses examples of the largest species of animals living in the ocean.

The AquaDom, Berlin, Germany

The AquaDom Aquarium can be found at the Radisson Hotel in Berlin, Germany. This exhibit consist of a cylindrical aquarium measuring 25 meters high and 11 meters in diameter. Another cylinder inside the main cylinder holds an elevator used by visitors to this hotel. It moves slowly up or down, allowing those using it to be surrounded by the aquarium itself. It holds approximately one million liters of water, and is home to 2,600 fish species.

The Sydney Aquarium, Sydney, Australia

The Sydney Aquarium contains the largest collection of marine life that is specific to Australia. One of its exhibits, the Open Ocean exhibit, holds the largest shark collection in the world. This is viewed from underwater tunnels, giving one the impression of being immersed in the exhibit itself. Another exhibit is the Great Barrier Reef, where children can interact with a touch pool, as well as a Coral Cave and a Great Barrier Reef collection of more than 6,000 animals. The water for this exhibition comes from the Darling Harbor in Sidney, where it is filtered and heated before being pumped into the exhibition.

Underwater World, Singapore

The Underwater World in Singapore houses more than 250 types of marine life from waters in the Singapore area. A visitor to this aquarium will be able to view Gracie, a dugong who lives here. Dugongs are similar to manatees in that they are huge, slow moving mammals. Their tail resembles that of a whale. What makes this aquarium unique is their use of a "travelator," a means of transporting the visitor through a long tunnel running through the habitats of sharks, rays and shoals with other various sea animals. Visitors are also given the opportunity to swim with the sharks and the dugong, if they are qualified.

The earth's oceans and freshwater habitats are just beginning to be explored. With so many unique aquariums being constructed around the world, it is difficult to rate one against another. If one has the opportunity to visit an aquarium, he / she will leave it with much more knowledge and appreciation of the liquid area of our planet. Hopefully, this will lead to greater respect for what we have right at our fingertips. There is no need to go to outer space to explore new sites. We still have plenty of unexplored places right here on the earth.

Accessing the best dental care can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. There are many dentists around and each of them claims to be providing the best of services. There are also some other dental health practitioners called orthodontists. You probably think that everyone who deals with teeth is a dentist. Quite on the contrary, you probably do not need the services of a dentist but rather an orthodontist. Not everybody knows what orthodontists do anyway.

Generally, orthodontists and dentists have the same agenda as far as your health is concerned. This is to enhance your oral health. However, the ways that they do this are the difference. As you might know, dentistry is not a small field but one with a whole lot of branches within it. It is also worth mentioning that a dentist can also be an orthodontist but you need not be told that not all dentists are licensed as orthodontists as well.

The similarities

The major comparison between a dentist and an orthodontist is that they both focus on your dental healthcare. An orthodontist may work in a dental office and provide the same care as a dentist. In this case, they perform the same duties. In short, they are both doctors who deal with teeth and gums.

The world of differences

For starters, orthodontists spend a lot of more time in school as a dentist specialty. It is the same thing with surgeons as they go through some few more years in school. Orthodontists normally concentrate on helping patients with teeth alignment. They fix the bite and alignment of the teeth. This might be through the use of tools such as braces and Invisalign.

Dentists mainly promote good oral hygiene and provide services relating to tooth decay, root canals, gum disease, crowns, veneers, tooth whitening, and bridges. On the other hand, orthodontists are dentists who mostly focus on the alignment of teeth and give services such as fixing misaligned teeth, crowded teeth and overbite or underbite.

Which specialist to visit

Getting to know the differences between the two profession helps you save a lot of time when you are looking for a specific procedure to be done on your teeth. So if your teeth are to be aligned, you know you have to go to an orthodontist and if you just want a dental checkup, you go to a dentist who will be able to take care of your daily dental needs. Dentists are able to treat just about any kind of dental issue and that is why they are the more popular of the two. However, you might also benefit greatly from the specialized care provided by orthodontists.

Some health issues, or even medical treatments can also cause yellow teeth by weakening the enamel and dentin inside of the tooth. Consult a health professional for ways to whiten your smile.

Inadequate personal dental hygiene is another problem that will cause tooth discoloration. Learn proper ways and get into the habit of brushing and flossing your teeth the right way. A dental professional can give you the best techniques and methods to use.

Be sure to inquire about these charges before selecting one.

After deciding on a dentist, you should pay a direct visit to their office. This will give you a lot of information that you would not be able to find from online researchers. You might consider taking a look at the equipment used by the dentist. Even though you are not a professional, you will be able to understand if the facilities are well maintained or not. Also take a look at the number of patients in the waiting room. This reflects the reputation of a dentist.
