Dentists around the country and possibly around the world are always trying to find ways to get new patients so they can perform what they do best and get rightfully paid so that they can be encouraged to do their tough jobs more. The problem with this is that dentists in general do not have much knowledge in the advertising and marketing field and end up spending more money than necessary just to get their business across the aisle. That very technique is considered an old technique because smarter dentists these days do all the advertising work themselves by means of a service that virtually all people use regardless of profession – social networks.

Purpose of Social Networks

Social networks are services that most people use because they have most of the capabilities of e-mails such as the ability to send and receive quick messages from others. In addition, you can add contacts to your network so you can easily contact them and see other contacts that they have so you can add them to your list too. Because of these basic functions, everyone uses social networks and some of the features that are offered in these networks are widely used and can help advertise any business

Why they are Efficient

Social networks are ideal for helping dentists get new patients simply because they are easy to contact and you are easy to find as long as you have a complete profile. Simply letting everyone know that you are a professional dentist may drive some interest to your profile, but going with the complete information including the address of your company and other important details, these members that you have connected with could be your next patients in line.

Then after you keep them your services, you can continue to keep in touch with these people via social networking and most probably they will give you a comment on your service for everyone else to read and that means more business for you if you are really doing A good job.

When marketing days feel slow, you can take advantage of the groups feature to help attract even more people to your dental services. If your business has a website, it will be a lot easier to advertise since most social networks do not mind URLs to be posted in group discussions so long as the group owner or moderator approves. Therefore you need to post in the right group areas where people are most likely to be interested.

One of the best things about social networks is that not only one exists. You can optally join other social networking sites and update your profile the same way you normally do to get even more patients and spread your brand even further. The possibilities are essentially endless and most networks can be joined for free.

Social networking has a pretty slow start, but they can grow into a powerful marketing tool if you have a large enough network. Give some time in marketing your website and then let your contacts spread the word.

Dentists rightfully see themselves first and foremost as professionals performing an important public service: promoting positive dental health for the communities in which they serve. What they are not traditionally as good at is marketing themselves effectively. The reasons for this are many: some dentists resist marketing because it somehow seems out of step with the Hippocratic oath. Others support the idea of stepping up their marketing activities in principle but just are not sure how or where to start.

The bottom line is that marketing in and of itself is not antithetical to what it means to be a responsible doctor. In fact, if you believe in the value of your services, you could say that you owe it to yourself, your staff, your family and your community to more effectively get the word out about your services through effective dental marketing solutions.

Here are 5 tips for getting more patients via effective dental marketing solutions:

Tip # 1: Target high-response prospects such as new movers with direct mail campaigns:

Direct mail can be an very cost-effective way to get the word out about your practice to the prospects within driving distance of your office. Many dentists are understandably wary about direct mail because of anticipated low response rates. However, there is a way to drastically improve response rates: specifically target new movers in your area. New movers are simply the people who have recently moved into your neighborhood – either into apartments or homes – and who are there much more likely than average to be on the lookout for a new dentist. In fact, research shows that new movers are 4 to 8 times more likely to respond to advertisements than longtime residents.

Tip # 2: Offer prospects promotions and coupons:

When advertising via direct mail, it is always wise to offer special promotions, coupons or other incentives to prospects. Sound too cost to try? Think again: imagine taking a slightly lower margin (ie, higher cost) on a new patient's first visit and in exchange for effectively hooking them for multiple future visits. From a cost-benefit standpoint, your dental practice will be much better off by gaining these prospects' recurring business – even if you have to take a small cost hit in the short term. Every new client is potentially worth hundreds or thousands of dollars per year to your practice, so leveraging promotions and coupons is a smart way to capture those dollars.

Tip # 3: Identify something that sets you apart and promote it:

One of the golden rules of any good marketing plan is setting oneself apart from the competition. There are likely many other dental practices in your area that are competitive for the same prospective patients you are. You need to find a way to set yourself apart. You can accomplish this without resorting to gimmicks like standing on your head or posing with Siberian tigers in your ads! The key is to home in on some key brand identifiers that will set apart your practice from the others in your area. For example, try becoming proficient at a particular cosmetic dentistry technique. Or, simply became known as the bright smile dentist or the kid-friendly dentist in your area. Your prospects will identify with your new image and be more likely to give you a try.

Tip # 4: Train reception staff on how to present your services verbally in an effective way:

Ask yourself: who are the first persons to interface with your prospects? That's right: it is your phone attendants and your in-office reception staff. To attract, acquire and retain more patients, it is important that your staff knows how to talk to prospects and keep clients happy. This goes beyond making sure that your staff is merely courteous and polite. Rather, you should train them to memorize a script that they can recite concerning your services whenever meeting a new prospect. Of course, there is no need for your staff to memorize the script verbatim – in fact, that could sound creepy or unnatural! Rather, they should learn the script and then create their own variations on that theme that works well for them. The script should be written in such a way that it positions your practice in a unique way (see Tip # 3 above) and describes a few of your most important (and lucrative) dental services in a way that does not sound sales-y.

Tip # 5: Send your hygienists to get trained on better conversation skills:

While it is your reception staff who first meets and greets your patients, it is your hygienists who spend the most time with them. Even though your patients may be unnecessarily rendered silent during their routine teeth cleanings, your hygienists should be trained to become excellent conversationalists. Sure, that's not why you hired them, but consider this: it is a people world, as they say, and employing a staff of interesting, friendly hygienists will keep your patients coming back for years to come.

Consider these 5 tips for getting more patients into your dental chairs. From effective, targeted direct mail campaigns to smart branding and training a courteous, engaging staff, you have at your disposal a range of tools for improving your revenues. These tips will work even if you are on a shoestring budget and even in the face of stiff competition.

Virtually everyone loves silly string and practically everyone enjoys using a can or ten when it comes to parties, pranks, and wars. Though it is one of the most popular and widely used party supplies, it can also become an instant mess and hassle to clean up. Sure it’s fun while it’s happening, but when cleanup time comes and guests go home, you are stuck with hours of picking silly string out of carpet, upholstery and other hard to clean areas.

Because of the fun there really isn’t much of an option to not use it. The brightly colored stuff usually makes the whole party just take off into action. The best option is to learn how to make the can of fun easy and fast to clean up and avoid any damage it may cause. Because the bright colors have a small potential to cause damage, I have also created a list of items and area’s to avoid when using it.

Places it is safe to use: Silly string is generally easy to pull off clothing and other articles, though it can be more difficult to get it out of tight knit sweaters, as compared to 100% percent cotton items. So be sure that your clothing isn’t your best dress. It also helps to use it out doors. Yes it does come out of almost everything and isn’t as hard to cleanup as it may appear when it’s all around the room, but trying to clean up after several cans can add up to a lot of time, and can become very tedious work. Enjoy using silly string by simply avoiding any unpleasant cleanups. The best option is to use it outdoors where a water hose can easily be reached to the area. Silly string will dissolve by simply wetting it down, eliminating the long and boring cleanup after the entertainment.

Places to avoid using it: Most areas are safe and quite fun to use silly string, but there are some precautions that can prevent unwanted messes, injuries, or other problems. Keep in mind that if you are going to be using the brightly colored stuff at a public place, such as a park, you will need to make sure that such a location will allow you to use the string. Some parks ban any kind of party confetti and any other small particles that can get left behind, and this can of fun may be on their list. So be sure to check with the land lord or caretaker before bringing it. Never spray toward or directly into the face. Though silly string is generally safe it can cause damage if sprayed directly into any part of the face. The last but not least is to avoid areas where there may be vehicles present. Silly string is known to take off the surface of some auto body paints.

Taking these few precautions before using a can of bright string can make your experience enjoyable and a lot less stressful when it comes to cleanup.

The problems of concealing grouting and rough surfaces are easily overcome. Lining paper, if properly applied, will stretch over and hide the rough patches and the effect can be completed by using a heavy or embossed wallpaper.

This technique also applies to walls built of cement blocks. If you are building with brick or cement block and know that you want to wallpaper certain walls, ask your builders to apply the mortar so that you have a nice flat surface, rather than raking out the joints. With existing walls, the secret is in preparing the raw surface.

These are the tools you’ll need:-

A long table or bench, a trough, sponge or foam paste applicator, scissors, soft brush for smoothing wallpaper on to wall, a ruler, plumb line, razor for cutting.

A paint sealer is applied to dry any moisture from the wall, then a latex based wallpaper liquid size. A well soaked pre-pasted wallpaper lining will be just sufficient to soften the size and bond the lining firmly to the wall so that when wallpaper is pasted over, it won’t weaken in any way.

The same principle can even be applied if you are papering over rough-caste walls (walls that have been plastered and raked or scrolled upon when wet). If your brick wall has an extremely rough and raised surface it will have to be plastered over prior to wall-papering.

Here is how it’s done:-

1. Prior to start working on an absorbent raw wall, you’re first step is to seal and size the wall. Coat it with a paint sealer and leave to dry overnight. Next apply a latex based wallpaper liquid size; this is especially good on absorbent surfaces. This takes about an hour to dry. If time is short you can apply two coats leaving an hour between coats, instead of the over- night sealer.

2. Apply pre-pasted lining paper. Soak it in a trough to soften and roll out to arm’s length. Fold over and back half-way, forming pleats to the end of the roll.

3. Holding the top piece of paper in one hand, and pleats in the other, stretch the first pleat along the wall and flatten out with sponge. Stretch next fold and flatten and so on to the end of the roll.

4. To paper around a corner, leave 25 mm (one inch) overlap and “butt” the adjacent strip of paper on to it.

5. Repeat soaking and folding procedure and bring next roll of paper lining overlapping approximately 6 mm (quarter of an inch) onto the first. By having paper on paper you will prevent the joins from edging into the grooves between bricks.

6. Leave lining paper to dry overnight. As it does so it will tighten and stretch out over grooves and rough patches on the wall surface.

7. Before applying wallpaper, coat again with the latex based wallpaper liquid size as added insurance that the lining paper has sealed properly and tightened on to the wall

8. The type of wallpaper used is important. It should be embossed or a heavy natural weave to ensure that the imprint of the design is not lost when pasted on.

9. Hang your selected wallpaper vertically in the normal way.

Sit back and admire your masterpiece.

Ceiling roses are ornamentations traditionally made of plaster that are used to decorate the area surrounding a central ceiling light. They were standard fashion items throughout the Victorian and Edwardian eras, particularly among the upper classes where they were often used to complement a chandelier in a room with a high ceiling. Today, ceiling roses are made from a variety of materials including polymer-based products. This makes them much lighter than traditional plaster ceiling roses and therefore easier to install. Making ceiling roses from modern materials also gives a higher level of definition for those ceiling roses that are ornately decorated. Ceiling roses offer a focal point to a room and can be used to complement its contents. However, before you buy one there are a few things that you ought to consider that might influence your choice.

Firstly, you should consider the question – why you want to install a ceiling rose? Is it for entirely aesthetic reasons or is there a practical factor involved? Aesthetically, ceiling roses can add character to a room and help recapture the ‘period feel’ that a building can have. They may be used to accentuate the beauty of a chandelier and to highlight the lines of light it throws out. Alternatively, it may just be used to cover cracks in the ceiling! Ideally, you should install your rose in the centre of the ceiling and this will have some bearing on your choice as in the case of ceiling roses, size really does matter.

Initially, there is the size of the ceiling to take into account. If the rose is too large, it will simply dominate the room and serve to make it feel more ‘closed in’, rather than acting as a centrepiece. On the other hand if it is too small it will be a pointless exercise and the rose will become ‘lost’ in the expanse of ceiling. There is also the height of the ceiling to consider. A high ceiling will cheerfully show off a larger ceiling rose, whereas on a lower ceiling it will tend to dominate the room. The room’s height may also affect the level of decoration you wish your ceiling rose to have. The higher the ceiling, the bigger and bolder the design you can expect to accommodate. The lower the ceiling, the finer the detail you can sport, although in modern houses it is generally better to opt for something plain as installing an ornate rose can often be a case of ‘over-egging the pudding’.

There is also the question of existing decoration. Unless the room is being entirely redecorated, you may have to choose something that is sympathetic to its existing style. If you have intricately-patterned wallpaper you might want to minimise the amount of embellishment on your rose so that the overall design of the room does not become too ‘fussy’. If there are existing cornices and coving then it is far better to select a design that blends in than one that will confuse the focus of the room. Detail is also a concern should you be planning to adorn the area surrounding a chandelier; the more ornate your chandelier is, the less your ceiling rose should be. In these instances ceiling roses are there to offset the lighting, not the other way round.
